
My most unique quality is my patience towards kids and my ability to catch their common misconceptions. I have horned this quality over multiple years of my teaching career as a classroom teacher as well as an online tutor. I like to approach each kid by showcasing their strength and the pathway that can lead to their net desired level. I do not encourage students to role mathematical formulas, identities etc. without explaining where did they come from. I firmly believe that if a student is clear on his or her basics, he/she can easily steer his/her away to solve complex problems. I expose them to numerous variations of the same problems to cement their basic understanding of any topic.
Have been enjoying my role as an online tutor from the past 2 years. Started online one-on-one classes catering US based students as per CCSS aligned syllabus and soon expanded it to IGCSE students in India aligned to Cambridge curriculum.
I am passionate about encouraging creativity and higher order of thinking among students in a way that increases student performance and pave their way for successful ventures after high school. I hold extensive knowledge in teaching resources and various teaching methods, so I am able to reach learners of all backgrounds.
I enjoy helping teenagers to reach their academic goals while gaining an understanding of mathematical concepts. My lesson plans employ creativity and differentiation along with the concepts that are to be taught.I have exposed myself to numerous web portals for collating research and designing interactive content like Microsoft OneNote Class Notebook, Google Jamboard, Peardeck, DESMOS Graphing tools, Geogebra, etc.
Strategies I Use
Every student has a unique way of learning. Some students may be visual learners, some may be auditory learners, some kinaesthetic, etc. For visual learners I incorporate visual aids, such as charts, diagrams, graphs, and other visual representations. For auditory learners I prefer to show them videos, help them learn skills through popular songs, raps, etc.
For kinaesthetic I have see that manipulative and hands on projects work the best. Before starting classes, I take a diagnostic test of the student to understand his level of understanding and preparedness for the course. Accordingly, I plan the pacing calendar and design my lesson plans. For slow to average learners, I would use chunking method to break complex problems into smaller chunks to help them solve it.
For above average kids would challenge them with enrichment problems or real world problems to help develop their application skills.
